|The ‘hottest’ pub for miles!
The Bickford Arms was disastrously gutted by fire and reduced to a shell in 2003 and given the long history of the pub, dating back to the 17th century, the previous owners were determined to restore it to its former glory, and more! Using old photographs and drawings, many of them supplied through the generosity of local people, the main building was restored the to its original size and structure, including the internal period features and original slate roof, and the opportunity was taken at the same time to recreate other parts of the pub that had been altered over the years.
||Traditional style with modern convenience
The refurbishment has been an impressive success, with customers astonished to find the bar almost identical to how it was before the fire! But in addition to restoring the period features, double glazing was added and the kitchens and accommodation were finished to an exceptionally high standard. Using modern furniture with traditional themes, a warm, friendly ambience has been created with all modern conveniences.
